A mix that has nothing to do with the holiday. It’s no secret I’m not much of a “Christmas” fan. I originally had pieces of this mix set up for my Pyropolis 2013 set but I was taken out of Flipside in an ambulance before I even got to play one song. So I kept using the pieces of the set to play my solo shows around town for part of the year, changing songs and mixes to suit the occasion. I was really digging the experimentation that was happening in the early 2010’s. Producers we’re digging through world wide genres like Baile Funk, Tribal Guarachero, Guaracha, Cumbia, Kuduro, Kwaito, Kizomba, Zouk, Moombah, Juke, and Trap and I wanted to play as much of that out as possible. I recorded this and put it on a shelf for a few months but decided to dust it off and give it out as some sort of Christmas Present since Santa won't give presents to the naughty children who shake their booty too much. So put this on and TWRK around your Christmas tree.
Joseph Noctum - Pyropolis 2012: Phuture Perreo
The third and last installment in my Pyropolis series. In 2009 Dave Nada changed electronic music while DJing a high school house party when he slowed down Afrojack's dutch house remix of 'Moombah' to 108bpm. I was instantly hooked and over the next few years, I collected the slow beginnings of Moombahton tracks as they came out. The year before I experimented one lazy afternoon at Flipside with a Moombahton set and I watch as people we’re subconsciously drawn in to dance and enjoy the beats. This is the set that I played for the Amalgam Coast's Dance Dance Like There Is A Gypsy In Your Pants / Tiki Happy Hour party because I wanted to bring something new. It was a great success as the music, crowd, gourmet drinks and atmosphere melted together to make a magical night.
